Balasubramanian Viswanathan is an Associate in International Institute for Sustainable Development Energy program. He engages in data collection and analysis, stakeholder consultations, policy review, project management, and communication on issues related to a clean energy transition. He is based in New Delhi, India.
Bala holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in sustainable energy engineering with a track specialization in “Transformation in Energy Systems, Policy & Management” from KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden). Over the years, he had worked on public finance, subsidies and taxation, energy markets, economic assessment and public policy research to combat climate change. He worked on projects that are relevant to India, Indonesia, South Africa, Nigeria, Canada and Mexico among others.
